London --- October 29th, 2007. Nine Black Alps' new album - "Love/Hate" due for release on
Island Records on October 29th - will include patented enhanced CD features (technology which is
also available on DVD) from Sony DADC. Island Records are the first of the major music labels to
trial the new AudioWorks solution, offering them an opportunity to better understand buying and
pass-along habits, and elements which drive consumers online from a music CD.
Following their trail blazing set at this year's Reading / Leeds festival, Mancunian
four-piece rockers Nine Black Alps' release their hotly anticipated second album "Love/Hate", the
follow-up to 2005's critically acclaimed debut album "Everything Is". The new album sees Sam
Forrest come of age as a songwriter and Nine Black Alps graduate to rock's premier league.
"Think The Lemonheads doing unseemly things to Gram Parsons with Teenage Fanclub
videotaping...it's wonderful" 8/10 NME.
The AudioWorks technology includes a unique serial number (readable on PC or Macintosh) on
each CD which can be used to grant access to online bonus content such as photo galleries and video
footage of the band. The entire album (11 tracks) is also available online for streaming free of
charge for any consumer who buys an original copy of the disc and registers online for the band's
fan club.
Exclusive bonus features with Nine Black Alps' "Love/Hate" include:
- Filmed interview with the band
- Footage of the band live from their rehearsal studio
- Photo gallery by Martin Cohen (Martin, bassist/guitarist from the band, is also an
accomplished photographer).
"The music industry is changing and fans demand more when they purchase a new album" said Pru
Harris of Island Records. "With 'Love/Hate' we can be sure that the original purchaser of the album
gets additional content and features."
"We are very excited to be working with Island Records and Nine Black Alps for the UK launch
of our AudioWorks solution" said Gerry Kelly of Sony DADC. "The album is not copy protected in any
way, and as with any standard music CD the consumer is not restricted from ripping the content.
Access to the online bonus content is available only to one registrant per original copy of the
album.
